Get Your Ducts in a Row

5/25/2018 (Permalink)

Removing a vent cover will give you a glance inside your duct system.

Duct cleaning is a rather large undertaking that should be best done by service professional. On the bright side, it isn’t too much work to see if they need a cleaning. Removing the vent covers can give you a glimpse into the duct system, allowing you to see if they are free of debris. Air filters will also need to be check for contaminants. These two steps will provide you some insight into the cleanliness of your system. If either of these checks reveals dirt or debris, we advise you call a professional to efficiently clean your system. You can also check your heater; if the heat exchanger surface is unclean then your system is not working at peak performance.

As summer approaches (quickly), now would be a great time to look inside your air conditioner. AC coils should be free of dust or debris. If you shine a light onto coils and are unable to see the light projected on the other side, then you will need our help. The coil fins must be spaced evenly and damage free. If any of these pieces are sullied your AC will be less efficient. Don’t sweat it though, give us a call and we can get your AC running efficiently in no time.

Here is a guide to the work that will do into cleaning your ducts, and making sure everything is running smoothly:

First, we check the AC filters. If the filters are dirty then the air you are breathing is contaminated! Cleaning, or if needed replacing, your filters will ensure the air you breathe is clean and the air flow is unrestricted.

After dealing with the filter, we turn to the condenser coils. Clean condenser coils will keep your unit running at peak efficiency; saving you money every month on your electrical bill.  A SERVPRO of Central Manhattan professional will ensure you are getting the coolest air possible by cleaning the coolant lines.

Finally, to make sure everything is running perfectly, your service person will check the unit while it is powered up. With the power on, we can make one last check for any problems. Needless to say, if there are any additional problems we are ready to fix them!
